The exhibition Eunomia showcases large-format paintings of Ina Geißler from the newest series Broken Signs in a striking dialogue with Axel Anklam’s large-scale sculptures. Eunomia, personification of law and order, represents a concept for artistic process: the permanent reordering of seemingly disparate things.

The artist Claas Gutsche talking in front of his works.
"Traditional graphic printing techniques such as lithography, etching and woodcut are currently experiencing an unexpected renaissance, both in artistic training and in the current art trade. But none of these revived traditional ways of picture-making has managed to reinvent its conventional, somewhat stuffy image as successfully as the linocut. The linoleum cut has unexpectedly proven particularly popular with younger artists, especially through the contrast it presents to the omnipresent means of expression offered by the new media." The gallerie’s focus is on contemporary photography dealing with questions about reality and perception of international artists. Complemented by selected painting positions which enter into the same questions, the tangible nexus of painting and photography is the centre of the gallerie’s work. The presentation at SCOPE BASEL provides an exemplary insight into the gallery profile.
Works of Peter Dreher’s glass pictures series act as an interface between painting as unicum (Eckart Hahn) and photography as series (Thomas Wrede), thus creating a tangible nexus of both media.

Killer from the series WORRY DOLLS, 2010
This exhibition on the theme of ghosts and nightmares, is organised in two parts – objects are exhibited in both Péronne and Beauvais. It offers a dialogue between contemporary art and First World War objects from the Historial’s collections. The Historial museum appeals to the individual’s own situation in view of history and the heritage of the war. Beauvais takes visitors on a journey through childhood and primal fears. Within each of the exhibition spaces, phantoms are also displayed, like possible messages from the hereafter. Presented side by side, the contemporary artworks and the Historial’s objects and documents generate correspondences and contrasts which shed new light on the exhibition theme.

Group exhibition from October 22 2010 to January 16 2011, for the 5th anniversary of the Musée d’art contemporain du Val-de-Marne (MAC/VAL).The title " Let's Dance " is of course a reference to the 1983 David Bowie album with melancholy overtones. Is it an invitation? An order? It is, indeed, a form of resistance. This group show gives us a view behind festivity's mask, and is in a certain way melancholy. The irrepressible need for group commemorations of life's milestones is one of the themes unifying the over fifty works by forty international artists brought together in " Let's Dance " from October 22, 2010 to January 16, 2011.

In early October 2008, Stellmach was the most-googled artist in the world. Emotions were charged, sides were taken – for or against her – and questions were raised: Is it art? Is it legal? Is it sacrilegious? Is it true?
Berlin-based Australian artist caused an extraordinary media sensation in 2008 with the press release to her Berlin exhibition Set me free at WAGNER + PARTNER, in which she invited volunteers to join her in smoking the ashes of dead rock star Kurt Cobain. Stellmach never revealed how she obtained the ashes and held no interviews, instead her press release to 200 selected journalists ignited a media-hype that spread across 58 countries, creating furor, public outrage and admiration, especially online. Websites, blogs and chat rooms erupted and death threats were sent.
If the smoking of the ashes was the final act – then Complete Burning Away, Stellmach’s dramatic upcoming show at PICA is the epilogue. Her concluding remarks take the form of videos, artist books, painted walls and objects.
