We are happy to announce that three of the artist of our gallery program are nominated for the Entrepreneur 4.0. Award 2014.
In cooperation with IMMAGIS, Manfred Wittenstein developed the idea for and initiated the ENTREPRENEUR 4.0 AWARD. The competition is meant to produce sensitivity and public awareness towards this new set of values and criteria for action which may serve as orientation and guideline equally for companies and for society. In this context, art has been imparted with the task to develop new means of expression that go beyond didactic concepts and starry-eyed “saving the world” scenarios.

The exhibition Cock-and-Bull Stories celebrates the art of lying and deceiving, cheating, fantastic ideas and delusion. Artists Jörg Bong, João Galrão, Volker März, Sandra Munzel, Joan Ryan, Natascha Stellmach, Deborah Wargon and Christopher Winter tell us their cock and bull stories through different media, either drawing, photography or sculpture. The results are dubious, fantastic and sometimes audacious narrations about our culture and its underlying myths.

A successful Agent Provocateur Happening was had by the crowds at dOCUMENTA(13) on August 3, 2012 in Building 42 of the Hauptbahnhof! We sadly had to turn people away due to an already overdue time limit. Stay tuned for Stellmach's next Happening and watch the project grow!

The installation work DOGS are life-size sculptures of dogs on leashes. The combination of the single frozen poses of the animals suggests an artificial collection as opposed to a natural pack. Leashes imply owners of the dogs without showing them and stand for both control and tenderness.

For one night only, and the first time in Berlin, artist Natascha Stellmach will host Agent Provocateur at WAGNER + PARTNER, a project inviting visitors to engage in a personal pen tattoo experience. This work builds on the scandal around her major project with the ashes of Kurt Cobain and critiques the role of contemporary art in society.
Agent Provocateur premiered in Miami at PULSE Contemporary Art Fair, 2011; in Melbourne at Anna Pappas Gallery, 2012 and is forthcoming at Documenta in Kassel on August 3, 2012. Visitors are invited to choose one of the notorious responses to Stellmach's project, debating "art", to be tattooed temporarily onto their skin by the artist.
Agent provocateurs were traditionally “secret agents” employed to lure suspects into committing a crime with evidence. In this context the visitor is transformed into an Agent Provocateur for a night, questioning the merits, ethics and parameters of contemporary art. The tattoos become both a fashion accessory –with Stellmach tattooing to complement “the evening’s antics and outfit”– as well as a ‘rebrand’ of the author’s initial, often highly charged sentiment: ultimately endorsing Stellmach’s project and role as an artist. In Miami and Melbourne, people of all ages queued to have their own temporary text-based tattoo, lasting between one to three days.

A construction sight is created inside the gallery beton 7 with both images brought from Germany and elements sight specific to Athens. The piece is blending boarders between inside and outside spaces, hand-made and found objects. Black and white large-scale wall images of two illusionistic modern trams made of layers of transparent fabric are combined with actual materials, such as sand, stone and metal. Tram cables create a complicated net on the gallery ceiling.
Trams glide almost effortlessly through Berlin. Their geometric and at the same time organic form and elegant movement are dance like, whereas their cable lines form a delicate drawing on the sky. But trams are also mirrors; they mirror the city through their large windows and have identical front and back views.
