Based on the texts of email-spam, 'SPAM the musical' is spam turned video art.
Using the tools of web 2.0 and viral marketing 'SPAM the musical' combines the strength of social media with video art, attitude with anarchy, and casting with exploitation.

ATHENS VIDEO ART FESTIVAL May 14th-17th 12/05/09

On the festival of digital arts and new media at Technopolis Athens, Greece, gallery artist Boris Eldagsen will be showing his video installation NO CURE.
Based on the structure of karaoke, the 4-channel video installation NO CURE   features four 80-year-old Germans, singing the lyrics of three The Cure -songs: Cold, One Hundred Years and Sinking. As the electronic score composed by Melbourne composer David Chisholm uses leitmotifs of Richard Wagner\'s opera Götterdämmerung (Twilight of the Gods) to accompany the lyrics, the work drifts into a poetic and eerie comment on the transience of life and memory.

Thomas Wrede : New Catalogue 02/03/09

Manhattan / Picture Worlds
During the past six years, Thomas Wrede has returned repeatedly to the billboards of Manhattan as a photographic motif. In doing so, he has frequently concentrated on details viewed artfully in relation to people and atmosphere. The method turns the city into a stage set on which the larger-than-life ideals of the advertising industry merge imperceptibly with the realism of the street and the reality of life. While the allure of appearances outshines the bleakness of reality, the contrast generated in this way serves to intensify the fast-paced vitality of a city constantly reinventing itself.
As in earlier series of photographs, so in this one Wrede’s main interest is in shifts in the relative size of things and in the generation of different levels of reality.
The illustrated book will be published on the occasion of the exhibition „Manhattan / Picture Worlds“, 5 March to 2 May 2009, Beck & Eggeling new quarters, Dusseldorf.
Kerber Verlag, 120 pages with 52 coloured illustrations, hardcover, bound.
